28th February 2018 - Back To Dynotorque For Snagging

Following the first 100 miles covered since the conversion, the car went back to Craig to assist in resolving the identified issues so far

Some of the new CV boots from DeLoreanGo had torn (the above photo shows the CV grease flung all over the brand new gearbox). The drive shafts sit at a greater angle than before (still within tolerance) but were now rubbing on the new coolant pipes/hoses. Different CV boots will be chosen as the DMC CV boots couldn’t manage even 100 miles. The none OEM angle maybe a contributing factor (although still within the drive shaft and CV limit).  The coolant pipe angles will be optimised too

Craig worked out that the rear spring rate was around 140 lbs/in and should be 150!  He measured the 37 year old rear springs and found them to be over 1/2” shorter than they should be. As such they are now very soft and sagged so will be replaced with superior new springs plus he will implement more substantial bump stops and helper springs

Above is the stock DeLorean bump stop. The photo below left image shows the new larger and more substantial upgraded bump stop to the left of the stock DMC unit.  The below right image shows a new rear spring, upgraded bump stop and helper spring

The 1981 OEM hot water valve was also spotted as failing, so a swift replacement from DeLoreanGo sorted this
